Actual Conditions of Work-Life Balance and Required Supports of Improvement of Work Environment on Faculty Members

This study revealed the actual conditions of work-life balance (WLB) and support required for improving work environment faculty members engaged in various types such as education, research, university operations under discretionary labor system. A survey was conducted among three universities. The results obtained indicate following: Faculty tend to be more satisfied with their WLB than general workers experience occupational stress due obstruction research activities; specifically, includes suspension independent less time life events, other tasks, adverse effects caused by lack people around who receive support. In addition, worry over amount workload negative attitudes toward promotion a senior position, women, especially, are reluctant get promoted gender bias.
